A short equipment check prevents small problems from becoming distractions during a match. Complete it before leaving home and again during warm-up.
Cue and shaft
- Roll or sight the assembled cue for obvious issues.
- Clean the joint faces and tighten normally.
- Confirm the shaft surface feels clean.
- Pack joint protectors.
Tip and chalk
- Check that the tip is secure and evenly shaped.
- Bring the chalk you normally use.
- Pack a simple tip tool, but avoid major reshaping immediately before play.
Case and accessories
- Confirm the case closes securely.
- Pack an extension or bridge accessory if needed.
- Bring a towel and cue holder.
- Keep valuables in a separate closed pocket.
Use the same equipment during warm-up that you plan to use in the match. Familiar feedback is more valuable than a last-minute change.
