Most cue damage comes from impact, heat, moisture, and poor storage rather than normal play. A few repeatable habits can protect the straightness and finish of your equipment.
After every session
Wipe the shaft with a clean, dry microfiber cloth. Remove chalk from the ferrule and joint area without using aggressive household cleaners.
Transport safely
Use joint protectors and a structured case with separate channels for butts and shafts. Do not force a cue into a case that is too short or overcrowded.
Store in a stable environment
- Keep the case away from heaters and direct sunlight.
- Do not leave cues in a hot vehicle.
- Store the case where it cannot fall.
- Check the tip and joint before the next session.
